Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad

Arrive in Islamabad and rest before the long overland journey begins.

Drive north along the Karakoram Highway to Chilas, stopping to view ancient petroglyphs carved into roadside boulders.
Continue north toward Hunza, stopping at the Nanga Parbat viewpoint en route, and arrive in Karimabad by evening.
Visit Baltit Fort and Altit Fort, and explore Karimabad's bazaar.
Boat across Attabad Lake and photograph the dramatic Passu Cones.
Explore the historic village of Gulmit and visit Borith Lake.
Drive to Khunjerab Pass on the Pakistan-China border, the highest point of the trip, then visit Sost before returning toward Hunza.
Begin the long overland return, stopping in Gilgit city for lunch and a break before continuing toward Islamabad.
Complete the return journey to Islamabad and transfer to the airport for departure.
